Trek Stache 7 2019 Price: A Review

When Trek cancelled their Plus tires, many fans were left wondering what would happen to the beloved Stache series. But fear not, as you can still get your hands on a brand new frame in either aluminum or carbon. Yes, I'm giving them a pass for swapping out the bar-con shifters for STI a few years back - after all, it's hard to resist the charm of this beast.

As someone who has reviewed the Stache and is passionate about any bike with sliders, I've had the pleasure of corresponding with many owners since 2017. Rob and his rig are a great representation of what makes the Stache so special - the unique sliding dropout system, the massive aesthetic that either inspires love or offense (but let's be real, it's hard to resist), and the genuine excitement that pilots convey when they take to the trails.

While some might say all trail bikes look the same, I think the Stache stands out from the crowd. It may not have crazy slack head tube angles or steep seat tube angles like some other bikes, but what it does have is a certain je ne sais quoi that can't be replicated. The shocks are still supported, and Trek even sells hardware kits to swap them out for current double-eyelet shocks.

Of course, the geometry is current, and Trek's paint jobs are always impressive. But what sets the Stache apart is its unique character - it's not just another bike on the market. And if you're looking for a used model with proprietary DRCV shocks, you can find some great deals on the market.

So, know your terrain and size up the right Slash, Remedy, or Fuel EX, and I think you'll be one happy camper out on the trails. The Trek Stache 7 2019 may not be as flashy as some other bikes, but it's a true standout in the world of mountain biking.
